Pike Brothers (Product Review)

For many in Europe and the USA their first exposure to Hawaiian style came through Fred Zinnemann’s 1953 movie, From Here to Eternity. Starting as a romantic drama the film eventually turns into an action movie when the Japanese attack Pearl Harbour. However, the sinking of the American fleet pales into insignificance when compared to the off-duty shenanigans of Burt Lancaster, Frank Sinatra, Ernest Borgnine and Montgomery Clift, who drink, fight and love, dressed in stylist silk or rayon aloha shirts. Adopted by London soul-boys in the late 1970s (worn with white pegs) this summer staple has never gone out of fashion within covert subcultures. Pictured here are some fine examples from Pike Brothers who recreate the look in easy-care viscose and a slimmer cut (like the Roamer shirt on their website). Take a look!
