The medium is metal. The artist is John Moss. Based in what he describes as ‘Surf City’, in fact Huntington Beach, John wields a welding touch in one hand and a wrench in the other. He makes cars, bikes, and objects of desire. Here, we confront our readers with a series of images that portray, what is for many, a paradise on earth in that it represents both a site of creation and a successful business. Can there be any doubt that making your living doing what you love is the ultimate goal for any person aspiring to long-term fulfilment? Situated close to the renowned Cycle Zombies lair John references much from mid-century America and more specifically Californian life along the costal reach of Orange County – a breeding ground for highly localised surf, skate, bike and hot rod scenes from which Brass Junkie takes much inspiration. The pictures speak for themselves.
